Founded in 1997, GTx, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the development and commercialization of therapeutic products related to men's health. The company's drug discovery and development programs are focused on small molecules that selectively target nuclear hormone receptors for estrogens and androgens. These nuclear hormone receptors are among the best-understood receptor systems, and pharmaceuticals have been developed to either stimulate or block these receptors for over 50 years.

To this end, we are actively recruiting for the following position:

Analytical, Laboratory Technician

Position Summary:

Working within a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, the candidate will conduct HPLC and HPLC/MS Bioanalytical method development, validation, and sample processing to support drug discovery/development programs. Individuals will closely interact with preclinical scientists conducting in vitro and in vivo pharmacology experiments to develop novel discovery molecules. Other responsibilities include writing reports and communicating accurate information in a timely manner.

General Purpose:

For executing test methods and validations of Bioanalytical assay to support the preclinical drug discovery group.

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform HPLC method analysis, including extraction procedures from biological matrices (cell culture media, serum, plasma, urine, etc….) that will provide the basis for in vivo pharmacokinetic and in vitro metabolism studies
• Work in a team environment
• Ensure accurate documentation of scientific contributions on a daily basis
• Conduct of certain aspects of studies per GLP regulations.
• Experience with HPLC is required.
• Experience with Waters, ABI & Agilent instrumentation is desired. Routine instrument and laboratory maintenance skills required.

Essential skills and experience:

• BS degree in chemistry/biochemistry/pharmaceutics or a related field with minimum 3-5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry with hands-on experience.
• Demonstrated experience with the following techniques: HPLC assay testing and validation, small molecule extraction from biological matrices.
• A strong background in analytical laboratory techniques is preferred
• Excellent documentation & communication skills and a willingness to work in a high performing team are essential.

Nonessential skills and experience:

• BS with 3-5 years experience in a GMP/GLP testing environment is preferred.
• Effective communication and the demonstrated ability to succeed in a collaborative team environment are necessary.
