GTx-758: The Potential for a “Best in Class” ADT

An oral LH inhibitor, GTx-758 is in Phase I clinical testing for the first-line treatment of men with advanced prostate cancer. Preclinical data show that GTx-758 rapidly suppresses secretion of luteinizing hormone by feedback inhibition on the pituitary, thereby inhibiting the production of androgens by the testes. In preclinical models, GTx-758 has demonstrated the potential to achieve medical castration to control the prostate cancer and to prevent bone loss and hot flashes.

GTx conducted two Phase I GTx-758 clinical trials in 2009. GTx-758 was well tolerated. In February 2010, GTx initiated a Phase II clinical trial evaluating multiple doses of GTx-758 in 70 males. GTx expects to obtain the results from the clinical trial in the second half of 2010.
